6-14-17 Last day! Bowling, pizza, movies, talent show then say "goodbye" ~ on to High School

6-13-17 Finish the movie "Anne Frank." If time, have a discussion about our importance in the world no matter our age.

6-12-17 Look through binder and portfolio to write up a paragraph "What I learned this year in ELA", then a worksheet to evaluate the choices made by the director/actors and analyzed how the play stays faithful to the true account of the story (film).

1-6-17 SSR/write reading response/go to library for new books. Then students participated in a writer's workshop- they were grouped up by the area of writing they wanted to improve in their story and then helped each other by giving advice/suggestions for how to improve it. They will continue next Thurs after testing.

1-5-17  SSR, make writing goals for rewriting their courage story, then work with team to share what they already know about revising- what it should look like or sound like. There was whole class discussion about how the revising will go tomorrow.

(per 6-7) SSR or writing 3rd book response, then wrote me a note about their behavior on Friday with the sub. After ward they were given the work from Friday to do as homework and then began working on the new vocabulary words.

9-30-16 (per 1-4) SSR, started new vocab- definitions and synonyms, notes about 3rd active reading strategy-making connections, then started reading "Thank You M'am" and annotating for connections.

9-28-16 SSR, return assign/tests, then took some notes from video clips about the similarities and differences between inferences and predictions. Then finished "The Monkey's Paw"

9-16-16 SSR, reviewed answers to analogies (from yesterday's packet when finished testing), then continued action & helping/linking verbs from Tues- they looked through their own writing to find what kind of verbs they used.

9-13-16 Library then SSR. After the students reviewed a worksheet about action verbs and linking/helping verbs some were able to start filling out the sentence variation sheet using their 100 words write up from last Friday- Will continue on Friday.

9-12-16 SSR or writing response for 1st book. Students wrote a letter to me about thmeselves and their reading/writing goals.

9-9-16 (Sub today) SSR then read an article "Two Days With No Phone"- looked for text evidence to support answers to the questions about the text.

9-8-16 SSR, took notes on the parts of a story map then reread through "Somone Who saw and through class discussion figured out the answers for the pretest.

9-6-16 SSR, learn more how to write reading responses and how they are graded, then took some notes about fiction vs. non-fiction.

9-5-16 No School ~ Labor day

9-2-16 (Assembly schedule) SSR, set up binders, classroom "tour" then looked at class website and finally took a pretest about literary devices.

9-1-16 SSR, review behavior, share puzzle pieces and take a pretest on story elements.

8-31-16 Went to library to get our first 2 books for the quarter (will be reading 5 books this quarter). Returned to class for sustained silent read (SSR). Reviewed the school rules and the reading response questions.

HOMEWORK: Bring class binder (1 inch with 5 dividers) and Read 20 min.

8-30-16 Welcome! Read and discussed rules and expectations from school handbook (front of planner) along with the ones for this classroom. Students were given several papers- each teacher and from the office. Students then began to color/design their puzzle piece.

HOMEWORK: Get paperwork signed that needs to be returned. Finish puzzle piece due tomorrow.--
